Marjana: A Retelling of Ali Baba & 40 Thieves - A Gateway to Creativity and Learning
The world of theatre holds a unique and transformative power. Theatre plays are not just about entertainment; they are an essential cultural and educational experience that can significantly influence students’ personal and academic growth.
We believe in the instrumental power of extracurricular activities, such as theatre, that can profoundly shape our students’ futures. Students step into a creative world that allows them to explore different characters, scenarios, and worlds, fostering their imagination. This creative exercise can enhance their problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, build confidence and develop strong public speaking skills. Teamwork is an integral part to the success of any event and performance requires actors to work together in unison where they learn to share ideas, communicate effectively and support each other to achieve a common goal, that ultimately is the success of their play.
Embodying these values, we are thrilled to share that our fundraising play, “Marjana: A Retelling of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves,” written & directed by Aleena Adel Afridi, held on the 29th of June 2024 at the Arts Council Karachi, was a resounding success. The event, supported by K&N’s, witnessed a full house with all tickets sold out, showcasing our students’ remarkable talents and dedication. The performance captivated the audience, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. We are proud to announce that the funds raised from this successful event significantly enhance our school’s programs, providing our students with unparalleled opportunities to learn and grow both professionally and academically.
“Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves” is a timeless tale of adventure, cunning, and bravery. Our production offered a unique interpretation that highlights the creativity and talent of our students and teachers. From captivating performances to stunning stage effects, this play was an unforgettable experience for our audience.
Our play was filled with valuable lessons, reminding us of the timeless wisdom: to cherish what we have and not covet the possessions of others. Through the enchanting tale of “Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves,” our students masterfully conveyed the message that true wealth lies not in material riches but in contentment and generosity.
