Democratizing Literacy Through AF Schools
Education is the cornerstone of development and progress, yet in Sindh, Pakistan, the struggle for basic literacy persists. According to the Pakistan Economic Survey, a staggering 32 per cent of children in Pakistan are out of school, with a distressing 44 per cent in Sindh alone. Notably, 37 per cent of these out-of-school children are girls. Additionally, approximately 60-70/% of Sindh’s population resides in rural areas.
AF School’s mission, education is everyone’s right lays emphasis on all children deserving a right to receive quality education. Alongside this our focus is also in building campuses in underprivileged localities and work towards uplifting the community as a whole, by not only making education accessible but also by creating employment in the community, providing training to hire teachers locally.
With over 3,000 children enrolled in 15 AF School branches across Sindh and we have focused on educating parents to enroll both boys and girls. Our mission to provide extends beyond knowledge in books, as we believe in equipping our students with practical skills through workshops focused on experiential learning. Additionally, vocational training classes are also available for students to learn practical trades and enhance their applied skills.
Together, let’s rewrite the story of literacy in Sindh and create a legacy of empowerment and opportunity for generations to come.
