Wheels in Motion, Futures in Sight: Girls-Only Cyclathon Rallies Karachi for Education & Empowerment

Karachi, July 19, 2025 – Karachi witnessed a powerful surge of energy, purpose, and sisterhood as Al Furqan Welfare Organization rolled out its first-ever Girls-Only Cyclathon: Cycle for Education on Saturday, July 19, 2025 – a high-spirited event dedicated to empowering young girls and raising funds to educate 100 underprivileged female students.

With around 80 participants, cheering crowds, and colorful cycling gear, the event was more than just a morning ride – it was a bold statement: Every girl deserves a chance to learn, lead, and thrive.

Pedaling through a specially designed city route, the participants weren’t just crossing finish lines – they were breaking barriers, challenging norms, and riding toward a future where education and opportunity are not limited by gender or income.

“This wasn’t just about cycling. It was about showing the world that girls belong in every space – including the streets, the classroom, and the future,” said Ms. Rubina Faryal Asif, President & Founder of Al Furqan Welfare Organization. “Educate a girl, and you don’t just change one life – you transform communities.”

Backing this movement was Bank Alfalah, the official event sponsor and a long-time ally of Al Furqan, having previously sponsored one of its education branches. We were also proud to be supported by Rotary Club New Central Karachi (RCKNC) and NRQ Hospital, both dedicated advocates of our cause. The event was further strengthened by our empowerment partnersRide, Roll & Lead, HERe, Women’s Sports Federation (WSF), and OAS – and our outreach partnersSalitex, MediaVerse, and Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry. Thanks to our refreshment partners, Dawn Bread and Quice, and media partners, ARY Digital Network and CatchUp with Aisha, along with valued support from Special Olympics, TriFit, and Ayaan Aesthetics, the cyclathon became an inclusive celebration of education, fitness, and community spirit. Their collective support reflects a shared commitment to social impact, women’s empowerment, and a brighter, more equitable future

Themed “Pedal to Empower,” the event wasn’t just a success on the ground — it sparked meaningful conversations and inspired young girls from underserved communities to dream big. The funds raised will directly support school fees, educational supplies, and academic support for 100 female students at Al Furqan School.

Al Furqan extends heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, volunteers, and community members who made this event possible – and to every young girl who showed up with determination and heart. Together, we didn’t just complete a ride – we ignited a journey toward lifelong empowerment and lasting change.
